SATENA Consolidates Three Key Achievements to Strengthen Connectivity and Air Safety in Colombia

  • The Civil Aviation Authority (Aerocivil) reaffirms SATENA's commitment to safety and excellence in aviation, granting certification to operate ATR and Embraer 145 aircraft under RAC 121 and the Twin Otter fleet under RAC 135.
  • The airline obtains the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Certificate, which guarantees the ability to perform aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul in Medellín, strengthening operational safety.

SATENA, the airline of Colombians, announced three significant achievements that reinforce its commitment to excellence, connectivity, and safety in air transport. These advancements reflect its leadership in regional aviation and its purpose of connecting even the most remote areas of the country.

Firstly, the Civil Aeronautics Authority (Aerocivil) renewed SATENA's Operating Certificate (OC), accrediting compliance with all current regulations, laws, and standards. This recognition, granted under RAC 121 and RAC 135 regulations, endorses the operation of the ATR and Embraer 145 fleets (RAC 121), as well as the Twin Otter (RAC 135).

"This certification is a recognition of our commitment to the highest standards of quality and safety, guaranteeing reliable operations for all Colombians," highlighted Major General Óscar Zuluaga, president of SATENA.

RAC 121 regulates domestic, scheduled and non-scheduled operations, while RAC 135 establishes standards for smaller capacity aircraft under 5700 kilos. These certifications reaffirm SATENA's reliability and operational excellence in the country. SATENA also received the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) Certificate at the Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín. This certification authorizes the airline to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and components, significantly expanding its technical capabilities. "This recognition from the AMO (Approved Maintenance Organization) is a momentous achievement for SATENA, as it allows us to strengthen our operations and ensure safety in the maintenance of our aircraft," Zuluaga pointed out.

The third milestone is the official start of commercial operations of the first aircraft in a fleet of eight Twin Otters. This model is specifically designed to operate in hard-to-reach regions, aligning with SATENA's mission to connect remote communities and promote development throughout the national territory.

With these achievements, SATENA reaffirms its purpose of being a bridge of development and mobility for all Colombians. Its commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability guarantees an air operation that not only connects the country but also promotes inclusion and progress in the most remote regions.

SATENA continues to consolidate itself as the airline that brings air connectivity to the most distant corners of Colombia, operating with the highest standards of quality, safety, and excellence.
