SATENA increases flights to Buenaventura, boosting the air connection to the nation’s primary port
Bogotá, march de 2026
The country’s primary port will see increased air connectivity with the capital. SATENA, Colombia’s national airline, announced an increase in flight frequencies on the Bogotá – Buenaventura – Bogotá route, adding new operations on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting March 18, 2026. This decision is a response to the steady growth in business, logistics, and institutional travel between the country’s central region and the Pacific coast of Valle del Cauca, a strategic area for Colombian foreign trade. “Buenaventura is strategic for the national economy. Strengthening this route means supporting the port, business, and social dynamics of a city that plays a fundamental role in the country’s competitiveness. Our flight operations contribute to a more efficient connection between the Pacific and central Colombia,” stated Major General Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, President of SATENA.
With the addition of these midweek frequencies, the airline expands travel options for corporate travelers, public officials, logistics operators, and local residents, reducing travel times compared to the road conditions that characterize this corridor.
Buenaventura accounts for more than 40% of the country's maritime trade and maintains a constant flow of activities related to cargo transport, port management, investment, and services associated with international trade. In this context, air connectivity becomes a strategic complement for executive mobility and institutional coordination.
“Strengthening this operation is not just a response to growing demand. It is a commitment to consolidating corridors that directly impact the country’s productive integration. Every additional flight frequency improves the region's responsiveness,” added Zuluaga Castaño.
The new frequencies will be available through SATENA’s official channels, allowing travelers to plan their trips between Bogotá and Buenaventura with greater flexibility.
With this expansion, SATENA continues to adapt its network to the country’s economic and social dynamics, reaffirming its role as a strategic operator in providing connectivity to regions that are key to national development.
About SATENA:
SATENA is the state-owned airline of Colombia, founded in 1962. Since its inception, it has played a fundamental role in providing air connectivity to remote and hard-to-reach regions of the country. Its primary goal is to provide air transport services to isolated communities, fostering socio-economic development and tourism. Throughout its 63 years, the airline has successfully expanded its route network, connecting cities and destinations that were previously unreachable for many. Its commitment is based on "reaching where no one else goes," offering essential air connectivity for activities such as trade and medical care in remote areas.
